Family Literacy Carnival
About the Family Literacy Carnival!
Members of the MacEwan University chapter of Golden Key and The Centre for Family Literacy are collaborating to host the 6th annual Family Literacy Carnival in recognition of National Family Literacy Day.
This is a FREE drop-in style event is for families with children. Families will receive a “passport” and are encouraged to explore 8 fun, interactive literacy activity stations developed by the MacEwan University students (with consultation from the Centre for Family Literacy).
Date: Sunday January 28, 2018
2:00 PM - Welcome & Guest Reader
2:15 PM - Station Activities Open!
4:00 PM - Event Closes
Location: Heart of the Robbins Learning Centre at MacEwan University City Centre Campus. 110 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2Y9 (Enter at main doors of the building located on the west corner of 109 St. and 104 Ave.)
Parking: Available at meters underground or the West Parkade.
Station themes for the carnival include: Math, Science, Play and Learn, Health, Technology, Music, Indigenous, and a Surprise station! Families who visit a minimum of 4 stations and have their passports stamped will receive a free children’s book to take home with them.
There are 2 activities at each station (one for readers and one for “pre”-readers). The activities are intended for parents and guardians to do along with their children. All families with children are welcome!
